返せるカップの行方

A café near my office introduced reusable cups for takeaway drinks.

職場の近くのカフェが、持ち帰り用に繰り返し使えるカップを導入しました。

Customers paid a small deposit and received it back when they returned the cup.

客は少額の預かり金を払い、カップを返すとそのお金が戻ります。

I liked the idea and chose one on my way to work.

仕組みが気に入り、出勤途中に一つ選びました。

After finishing my coffee, however, I left the cup on my desk for several days.

しかしコーヒーを飲み終えると、数日間、机にカップを置いたままにしました。

I usually took a different route home, so returning to that café required a detour.

But the experience made one practical point clear: choosing a reusable object is only the beginning.

ただ、一つの実際的な点は明確でした。再使用できるものを選ぶのは始まりにすぎません。

The system also has to make the next use possible.

次に使えるようにする仕組みも必要なのです。
