帰りのフェリー

Before visiting the island, Jo and his friend checked the ferry timetable.

島へ行く前に、ジョーと友人はフェリーの時刻表を確認しました。

The last boat back left at four, and their ticket was valid on any return boat.

最終便は四時発で、切符はどの帰りの便にも使えました。

They arrived at ten and walked to a café near the harbour.

十時に着き、港の近くのカフェまで歩きました。

The owner suggested a path to a quiet beach on the other side of the island.

店主が、島の反対側にある静かな浜辺への道を勧めてくれました。

It sounded lovely, but the walk would take nearly two hours each way.

魅力的でしたが、歩くと片道ほぼ二時間かかります。

Jo wanted to go, while his friend wanted more time to look around the village.

ジョーは行きたがりましたが、友人は村を見て回る時間を増やしたいと言いました。

They spread out their map and marked the places they both wanted to see.

二人は地図を広げ、どちらも見たい場所に印を付けました。

A short coastal path connected the café, a garden, and a small beach.

短い海沿いの道で、カフェと庭園、小さな浜辺がつながっていました。

They chose that route and agreed to be back at the harbour by three thirty.

その道を選び、三時半までに港へ戻ることにしました。

At the small beach, they had enough time to sit and watch the waves.

小さな浜辺では、座って波を眺める時間も取れました。

They returned early and saw passengers already waiting for the final ferry.

早めに戻ると、最終フェリーを待つ乗客がもういました。

The distant beach remained on their map as an idea for another visit.

遠くの浜辺は、次の訪問で行きたい場所として地図に残りました。
